The Biglerville Fire Department hosted its annual Community Day today.
The event educated residents about fire prevention and safety.
Both children and adults had the opportunity to to use a fire hose and meet local First Responders.
Car seat saftey checks, face painting, and emergency themed ornament painting were also offered. Visitors could touch and tour a fire truck, ambulance, and police car.

Officer Hartley answered many questions posed by curious onlookers. He showed them the stop spikes and other specialized equipment in his patrol car.
“I only ever had to use my AED (automated external defibrillator) once to save someone,” he said.
Community members could learn the hands-only method for CPR. There was even a live demonstration using the jaws of life for a simulated patient extraction situation.
Visitors toured a smoke house and learned how to react under those conditions.
Children were thrilled to don firefighting gear.
The free event also offered hotdogs, apples, applesauce, snacks, and water.
The community thanks Kennie’s Market, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Under the Horizon, A/V Solutions, Salon 34, Butcher Block, and Knouse Foods for helping to make this educational and enjoyable day possible.
