Bullets are now set to host sectional weekend of NCAA tournament

Gettysburg will host a third-round and national quarterfinal sectional in the 2025 NCAA Division III women’s basketball tournament beginning on Friday.

The Bullets (28-2), who earned an automatic bid into the field of 64 with its sixth Centennial Conference (CC) title, won their first two games of the tournament and were chosen as the host for the second weekend of the tournament.

Making its 12th NCAA tournament appearance and its seventh straight, Gettysburg won its first-round game on Friday night 61-52 over Stevens. The Bullets then defeated Western New England 55-52 in the second-round game on Saturday night.

Gettysburg’s third-round opponent will be Randolph-Macon. The Yellow Jackets (29-1) hosted a regional and defeated Piedmont 52-31 in their first-round game on Friday night before knocking off Elizabethtown 62-56 in the second round on Saturday. The Bullets handed Randolph-Macon its only loss of the season, 79-47, on Nov. 16 at the Jean Beamer Tipoff Classic hosted by Roanoke. Friday night’s rematch will take place at 7 p.m. in Bream Gym.

The first third-round game on Friday is between top-ranked New York University and SUNY Geneseo. That game will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Violets (28-0) made it through their regional with ease, defeating Gallaudet in the first round 102-62 on Friday and Trinity (Conn.) 83-45 in the second round on Saturday.

The Knights (24-6) were the only road team to win two games at the regional in the sectional. Geneseo traveled to Catholic and defeated the Cardinals 74-63 in the first-round on Friday before defeating Montclair State 71-49 in Saturday night’s second round.

The winners from the two third-round matchups will advance to Saturday night’s quarterfinal at 7 p.m. with a trip to the national semifinals on the line.

Junior Alayna Arnolie leads Gettysburg in scoring at 15.3 points per game, while senior Shinya Lee is second in scoring (10.3 ppg) and leads the team in rebounding (9.8 rpg). Arnolie is tops on the team with 49 3-pointers and 73 steals while adding 64 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Lee leads the team in blocked shots with a program-record-tying 87 and is second on the team in steals with 41. She also has 23 assists while shooting 52.3 percent from the floor.

Junior AB Holsinger (Charlottesville, Va./Langley) leads the team with 94 assists, scoring 7.4 points per game. She also has 37 steals and 27 3-pointers.
