Calling all artists! Register for HGAC’s 2025 BarnArt Show & Sale

Registration for Historic Gettysburg Adams County’s 2025 BarnArt Show & Sale is now open! Artists interested in entering fine art or photography works to the show – which runs from June 13-15 — should register soon, as available slots are filling up fast.

HGAC’s BarnArt Show & Sale will be held at the G.A.R. Hall on 53 East Middle Street in Gettysburg. The event is free and open to the public. Every artwork in the exhibit must depict a barn or a detail of a barn. Proceeds from the BarnArt Show benefit HGAC’s Barn Preservation Project and Grant Program, which provides grants to barn owners in Adams County to make needed repairs.

Artists can submit up to three works of fine art or photography. There is a $10 fee for each work registered. Mail in your check to:  HGAC, P.O. Box 4611, Gettysburg PA 17325, or use the PayPal link to pay the fee online on the webpage. Registration will end on May 1 and when HGAC reaches its capacity of 50 registered artists, whichever comes first.

If you have any questions, please email HGAC at histgettyac@aol.com, or leave a voicemail message at 717-334-5185.

The Opening Night reception for the show will be held on Friday, June 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. Awards are announced at 7:30 p.m. Join us as we raise our glasses for the familiar toast, “For the Barns!”  The BarnArt Show continues on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 15, from noon until 4 p.m.

HGAC is honored to announce that the judge for this year’s show will be artist Wendy Allen, owner of the Lincoln Into Art Gallery in Gettysburg. Allen has exhibited her art all around the United States and recently two of her works were featured at the Historical Society of Washington D.C.’s exhibit “Portraying Lincoln: A Man of Many Faces.”

Circle the dates of June 13, 14 and 15 and come celebrate Adams County’s great old barns and the artists who have captured them in works of art. Our Pennsylvania bank barns are unique with their cantilevered forebays in front and an earthen bank in the back. They are icons of what residents love about Adams County, our “rural character.”

Hope to see you at the show!
