Campbell’s rolls out new protein-packed soups

Campbell’s is expanding its soup lineup with five new protein-rich varieties, aiming to meet growing consumer demand for foods that deliver more nutrition without sacrificing convenience.

The new Protein Soup line features five flavors, each providing 20 grams of protein per serving — the equivalent of an entire 16.1-ounce can. Four of the five varieties are new to the Campbell’s lineup.

The collection includes Protein Italian Style Wedding Soup, which features beef meatballs, pasta, carrots, spinach, beans and tomatoes in a savory broth. New offerings include Lemon Pepper Chicken, made with chicken, chickpeas, carrots, corn, quinoa and rice in a lemon-pepper broth, and Homestyle Chicken & Rotini, which combines chicken, vegetables, navy beans and rotini pasta.

Campbell’s is also introducing two bean-based options: Southwest Black Bean, made with black beans, tomatoes and peppers in a tomato-infused chicken broth, and Mediterranean Lentil, featuring lentils, chickpeas, peppers, carrots and onions. Although the soups are vegetable-based, both contain chicken broth and are not vegetarian.

The company says the new recipes are designed to provide a more filling meal while appealing to consumers seeking higher-protein foods. Compared with Campbell’s traditional Chicken Noodle Soup, which contains about 3 grams of protein per serving, the new soups offer a significant nutritional boost. The Protein Italian Style Wedding Soup also contains about twice as much fiber as the company’s traditional version.

The protein line continues a series of recent product launches from Campbell’s, including a gluten-free Chicken Noodle Soup, a collaboration with Buffalo Wild Wings on a Parmesan Garlic-inspired soup and a new line of cooking sauces.

The new Protein Soups are available through Campbell’s online store and Amazon and have begun appearing on store shelves at retailers including Target and Walmart. The company said distribution will continue to expand in the coming weeks.

Consumers should have little trouble spotting the new products. Rather than Campbell’s familiar red-and-white labels, the Protein Soup line features distinctive green packaging to set it apart from the company’s traditional soups.
