Canners Dominate in First Round of Boys’ Soccer Championships

In an assertive display of soccer skills, the #8 ranked Biglerville Canners secured a convincing 4-0 victory over the #9 Bermudian Springs Eagles yesterday in the first round of the District III Class 2A Boys Soccer Championships.

The Canners started the match with a clear intent to dominate, with Daniel Sanchez marking the first goal of the game at 36:46. Their momentum was unstoppable, as Anthony Cervantes and Theo Pilette added to the scoreline at 23:25 and 16:45 respectively, wrapping up the first half with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, the Eagles attempted to retaliate, but Biglerville’s defense held firm. The Canners’ impressive performance was further solidified with a goal from Jesus Salazar-Garcia at 18:34, ensuring a comfortable win.

The Canners dominated with 12 shots on goal, while the Eagles managed just 3. Goalkeepers from both teams had their moments: Rodrigo Beltran Lua of Biglerville made 3 saves, while Alan Filipe of Bermudian Springs showcased his skill with 8 saves. Corner kicks were also in favor of the home team, with 5 to the Eagles’ 2.

Next stop for the Canners is at #1 Fleetwood (16-1) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
