Friday, at approximately 12:05 PM, the Gettysburg Police Department, the Gettysburg Fire Department, and A.R.E.M.S. were dispatched to the intersection of W. High St and West Street in Gettysburg for a pedestrian crash. Emergency services personnel responded, secured the scene, and treated the victim who had been struck.
Investigation and witness statements revealed that the pedestrian was crossing High Street on the West side of the intersection with West St. The pedestrian was reportedly in the crosswalk.

A 2010 Ford Escape driven by a Gettysburg resident was westbound on High St. at the intersection. The operator pulled through the stop signs and failed to see the pedestrian crossing the street. The left front corner of the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The victim was carried approximately 15 feet by the vehicle before falling to the road surface. The victim sustained severe injuries.
The victim was stabilized and first transported to Well Span Gettysburg Hospital, then flown to a regional trauma center.
The Gettysburg Police Department said it would not be identifying the parties involved at this time.
Gettysburg Fire Police and NPS Rangers assisted at the scene.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact GPD through the Adams County Emergency Services Dispatch Center at (717)334‐8101.
