Church Women United, an ecumenical organization that brings together women from different faiths throughout the community, invites local women to attend its next meeting on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:30 a.m.
The meeting will be held at the Church of the Brethren located at 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg. A representative from Women At Risk (WAR) International, an organization dedicated to helping victims and those at risk of forced prostitution, human trafficking and slave labor around the world will speak.
During the program, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the organization’s work and its efforts to provide assistance, awareness and hope to women and others affected by exploitation and trafficking.
Women from the county are welcome to attend the meeting. Guests are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch. Desserts will be provided.
Church Women United is an ecumenical group that welcomes women from a variety of faith traditions and backgrounds, offering opportunities for fellowship, education, and service. Each month there are different speakers hosted at the Church of the Brethren. The dynamic and inclusive group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month.
Suzanne Landis, Gettysburg/Adams County Church Women United member and PA Board Member welcomes new comers and said, “Summer is slipping away. Just as students in schools are learning new things, we have an opportunity to learn things we didn’t know about.” October is an opportunity to learn more about the global issue of human trafficking and the work being done to support survivors and individuals vulnerable to exploitation.
Attendees are asked to bring $3.00 to help with operations and beverages. Also, please bring folded plastic grocery bags for John’s Meals. This ministry makes use of this particular size bag to distribute food on a weekly basis to school children in need.
