Coffee and Conversations event to connect families with Gettysburg school food services

The Gettysburg Area School District Family Navigators will host a community coffee hour later this month aimed at strengthening connections between schools, families and the wider community.

The event, titled “Coffee & Conversations,” is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Norris-Wachob Alumni House on the Gettysburg College campus, with parking available in the Constitution Lot. Organizers note that signs will be posted to help direct attendees.

Family Navigators are partnering with the district’s school social worker to present the informal gathering, which is open to all community members, not just families with children enrolled in the Gettysburg Area School District.

The session will give attendees an opportunity to meet Nick Milone, the district’s food services manager, over free coffee and snacks. Milone will discuss how the school district’s food services team supports student success and works to ensure students have access to nutritious meals throughout the school day.

Organizers describe the event as a chance for relaxed conversation, learning and relationship-building in a welcoming environment. By bringing families, caregivers and community members together with school staff, the Family Navigators aim to improve communication and awareness of resources available to support students and families both inside and outside the classroom.

The program is part of broader outreach efforts designed to remove barriers for families seeking information, assistance or connections to school-based services. Family Navigators often serve as a link between schools and households, helping families understand available supports and navigate challenges related to education, health and basic needs.

“Coffee & Conversations” is funded in part through Pennsylvania initiatives that support community learning and family engagement, including grants administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
