In partnership with the Adams County Library System, Collaborating for Youth (CFY) will be launching Connecting Adams County. This project is financed by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, under the administration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. Collaborating for Youth & the Adams County Library System have partnered together to expand computer access for residents across Adams County. Through this generous grant funding opportunity, this collaboration will enable the installation of new public computers and improved digital tools in several community locations. The goal is to bridge the digital divide, ensuring everyone has the tools they need for education, job searching, and staying connected. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to empowering the community through technology and opportunity.
The goal of Connecting Adams County is to positively impact health, education, and workforce development for rural Adams County residents via the DCTP project and access to digital tools and education. Partners at the Adams County Public Library System (six community locations), Manos Unidas Hispanic American Center, and The Center for Youth and Community Development’s northern tier Connection Point will work collaboratively with numerous community partners to engage our community in first learning how to navigate with devices and then with their varied areas of interest for learning and life in a digitally connected world.

This project is part of a community plan to invest in capital assets to directly enable work, health monitoring, and workforce development via our community digital coalition to support a myriad of projects in community anchor locations. In rural communities, partnerships are an essential part of accomplishing community goals. Laptops will be distributed in a community collaborative plan to the library system for use in 6 rural community locations; to Manos Unidas Hispanic American Center for support and use of Skill Up PA with linguistic connection support; and for use in a northern tier human services location, reaching all of Adams County residents and reducing geographic barriers.
”We are pleased to have this wonderful partnership approach in place with the Adams County Library System, Manos Unidas, and partners with the Collaborating For Youth Coalition. It is this type of partnership that is the fabric of who we are as a community in Adams County– we care about our neighbors and their wellbeing. The ‘Connecting Adams County’ initiative brings technology to our communities for workforce development, education, medical and health monitoring, and much more. We hope residents will make good use of the laptops available at our libraries and that those with something to teach to the community can also use this technology in the libraries for education and lifelong learning.” -Andrea Dolges, Executive Director, CFYCD
“As part of our work to connect people to opportunities to enrich their lives, Adams County Library System is proud to partner in offering this new workforce development resource that will empower our community to learn, grow, and thrive,” -Miranda Wisor, Executive Director, ACLS.
