Community to honor Biglerville soldier Krystofer Lopez

The Adams County community is rallying to honor the life of U.S. Army Pfc. Krystofer Lopez, an 18-year-old Biglerville native, died last week after sustaining injuries during a training exercise at Letterkenny Army Depot.

Friends, family, and local businesses are organizing multiple events to recognize Lopez’s service and support his family during a difficult time.

A public fundraising event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the intersection of Hanover Street and South Main Street in Biglerville. Organized by local businesses Jacked Up and Fruta Del Sol, the event will donate a portion of proceeds to the Lopez family. Additional participating businesses, including Mammas Pizza and Ristorante, are also contributing to the effort.

The fundraiser is expected to draw strong community support, reflecting the impact Lopez had in his hometown and the region. Organizers say the goal is not only to provide financial assistance, but also to create a space for residents to come together in remembrance.

Lopez served as a 31B military police officer with the LEAD Directorate of Emergency Services Law Enforcement Division. He was also a member of the Personnel Force Innovation program and assigned to the 947th Quartermaster Company.

His death remains under investigation, according to officials.

Funeral services have also been announced and will take place Saturday, March 28, at Biglerville High School. A public viewing will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m.

Holding the services at the high school underscores Lopez’s deep ties to the community, where he grew up and attended school. It is expected to allow a large number of residents to attend and pay their respects.
