The global technology industry will converge on Las Vegas this week as CES 2026 gets underway, bringing thousands of companies, executives, and innovators together for the world’s largest consumer electronics showcase.
Organized by the Consumer Technology Association, CES officially opens Jan. 6, but activity begins earlier with preview events and high-profile keynote addresses along the Las Vegas Strip and at the Las Vegas Convention Center. As in recent years, artificial intelligence is expected to dominate announcements, though industry leaders say robotics could emerge as the defining theme of the show.
CES president Kinsey Fabrizio has indicated that robots, automation and intelligent machines will feature prominently across exhibits and demonstrations, reflecting how quickly those technologies are moving from concept to real-world application. Alongside robotics, attendees can expect extensive displays focused on AI-powered personal computers, new semiconductors and connected devices designed to integrate more deeply into everyday life.
Major chipmakers are again expected to draw some of the biggest crowds. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to deliver a keynote address ahead of the show’s opening, where he is widely expected to unveil new gaming hardware along with expanded AI software platforms and applications. Nvidia was a standout at last year’s CES, and the company enters 2026 after closing the previous year with a market value near the top of the global tech sector.
Advanced Micro Devices will follow with its own keynote from CEO Lisa Su, offering updates on AMD’s gaming and artificial intelligence strategies. The closely timed presentations underscore how CES has become a battleground for chipmakers competing for dominance in PCs, data centers and AI acceleration.
Intel is also expected to make news, with senior vice president Jim Johnson set to outline developments in the company’s Core Ultra Series 3 processors, known by the codename Panther Lake. The chips are aimed at powering the next generation of consumer and enterprise computers, an area where competition among manufacturers is intensifying.
Beyond semiconductors, CES 2026 will feature products ranging from smart home technology and automotive innovations to wearable devices and experimental gadgets that may never reach store shelves. Industry watchers say the show remains a key barometer of where technology is heading, even as some announcements prove more aspirational than practical.
