Council Rock Newtown from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has secured a spot in the Little League World Series after winning the Mid-Atlantic Region in Bristol, Connecticut. The team triumphed over Washington, D.C., with a 5-1 victory on Friday afternoon, marking their first return to South Williamsport since 2005.
Despite weather disruptions, including a five-hour game rescheduling and two rain delays, Council Rock Newtown’s starting pitcher, Saverio Longo, delivered a strong performance, allowing just one run over four innings. The team maintained a 2-1 lead following the second delay, before Ryan Uhl’s bases-clearing double in the fifth inning extended their advantage. With a four-run lead, Tyler Neeld secured the win in the top of the sixth, clinching the regional title.

This victory continues an extraordinary summer for Council Rock Newtown, which has won all 18 of its tournament games. The team went undefeated in district, sectional, and state tournaments, dominating the regional round with three wins, including decisive run-rule victories earlier in the week.
The path to this success has been years in the making. After finishing third in the state two years ago and losing in the state title game last year, the team’s perseverance paid off, making their undefeated run to the Little League World Series particularly rewarding.
As they prepare to face Texas West, the Southwest Region champions, on Thursday, the team holds the longest winning streak in the country. Coach Brad Hamilton emphasizes the importance of enjoying the moment, recognizing the rarity of the opportunity to compete in South Williamsport. With a focus on building lasting memories, the team is poised to make an impact on and off the field in the upcoming tournament.
