Dale Brennan announces candidacy for GASD board

Dale Brennan, of Gettysburg, PA, proudly announces his candidacy for School Board in the Gettysburg Area School District. Brennan (aka Mr. B), a retired public school teacher, graduated from the University of Maryland where he earned a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education. After thirty years of dedicated service in one of the nation’s largest school districts, Brennan is committed to ensuring that the students of the Gettysburg Area School District are provided with a safe, inviting, and stimulating environment in which they can develop the skills necessary to face whatever challenges they will encounter in life.

In addition to his teaching duties, Brennan was the Social Studies department chairman, a position he held for nineteen years. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing various aspects of his department, including curriculum implementation, scheduling, data analysis, and professional development to improve instructional practices. Brennan was also heavily involved with his students through extracurricular activities, coaching varsity volleyball, baseball, and a successful Mock Trial team.

Believing that students should be encouraged to strive for excellence, Brennan ensured that students were recognized for their efforts. To this end, he created an Advanced Placement Emeritus program to recognize students who excelled in their AP classes. He also established a chapter of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, the first in his county, to honor outstanding achievements by students in the social sciences.

If elected, Brennan’s primary focus will be to keep an open line of communication with students, parents, teachers and administrators in order to develop informed positions and ensure that all students are treated fairly and equitably, in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. These goals are grounded in the belief that if there is one place to set politics aside, it’s education.

“In an era of changing national priorities, it’s important that we, as a community, strive to ensure our children are prepared for their future,” Brennan said.

I met Dale and asked some important questions. He is fair and caring for all students in the district. He does not support the fascist notions of project 2025. We need him to keep Gettysburg School district effective and DECENT!

That last quote could be taken many ways…and where does Mr. B stand on those changing priorities? How long has he lived in this area, and what previous district’s perspective comes with all that experience? So many candidates skip around their hidden agendas with old generalizations…clarification, please!

I’m sure Mr. Brennan was a great educator. It would be nice to know where he taught, and I agree with Mr. Moran, retired teachers and administrator’s don’t always make the best candidates. Way to much muscle memory. The public education system needs reform, and needs to be ran more like a business.

It would be nice to know where Mr Brennan taught. All the article states is, “one of the nation’s largest school districts.” Mr Brennan also needs to understand that “politics” of some kind are involved in every aspect of life. While I have the deepest respect for teachers, I’m not sure that they are the best candidates for the school board because they have only experienced one side of education. Administration and budgeting, to mention just a couple, are very important aspects of the job. We all want our children to get a great education but school board members need… Read more »
