The long-awaited sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 has proven to be a global box office powerhouse, debuting with more than $233 million worldwide and delivering one of the biggest openings of the year.
The film, directed by David Frankel and starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, brought in $77 million domestically, surpassing early projections. Internationally, it added an additional $156.6 million, marking the second-largest overseas debut of any Hollywood film this year.
The strong performance made it the second-biggest global opening of 2026, trailing only Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It also set a new benchmark for its lead stars, becoming the highest-opening film of their careers.
Industry analysts credited the film’s success to a combination of nostalgia, strong international marketing, and continued demand for female-driven, fashion-focused storytelling. Holiday timing in several regions, including Labor Day in parts of Europe and Latin America and Golden Week in Japan, also helped boost ticket sales.
With its impressive debut, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has quickly established itself as one of the year’s biggest hits, signaling that the franchise remains a major draw nearly two decades after the original film’s release.
