Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI) is gearing up for the third annual New Year’s Eve Martin’s Famous Potato Roll Drop, set for December 31, 2024. Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls and Bread once again serves as the event’s title sponsor and presenting sponsor.
The excitement kicks off at 6 p.m. at Chambers Fort Park and culminates in the dramatic drop of a giant pack of potato rolls at 9 p.m. Music provided by DJ Lex will set a festive mood for the event, and Kickin’ It Classy will bring lively line dancing. Kids and families can enjoy a bounce house on the second floor of Avocado Café, and several local businesses will stay open to join in the festivities. Children can take part in a candy scramble and visit Santa’s Clubhouse. Plus, attendees can register for a chance to win $1,000, adding even more excitement to the celebration.
Lynn St. Clair, who serves on the New Year’s Eve Potato Roll Drop planning committee, is looking forward to joining the Chambersburg community in the New Year’s celebration. “I love that we all come together to look forward to the wonderful things the New Year holds!” she says. “Seeing the community laughing, having fun, and taking photos is one of the joys of the New Year season for me. It’s also fun to see the new ideas for activities and community engagement percolating among our planning team.”
Wendy Cowan, marketing manager of Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls, sees the event as “a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and share in the excitement of the season.” She says, “Strong communities are important, and we are proud to be a part of this one. Our customers, employees, and families live here, so this is a great way to foster a sense of connection and appreciation.”
