Drs. Ashton Verdery and Glenn Sterner from Penn State University are conducting a study designed to identify and disrupt heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid networks in Pennsylvania.

You can participate in this study, in which you will help fight opiate distribution in your community, learn about drug treatment, and understand how to report drug crimes.

YOU WILL RECEIVE A $25 GIFT CARD FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION.

You will have the opportunity to participate in a focus group which will take about one hour, where you will answer questions regarding where drugs are being distributed and sold in your community.  Your participation will assist in understanding how opiates and other drugs are reaching communities, which will help to lead to policies and strategies for keeping these substances out of communities.

We are targeting three groups for our focus groups:

  • Law Enforcement and First Responders (people who actively are employed in the law enforcement or first responder field, i.e. EMTs or Fire).
  • The Substance Use Disorder Recovery Community (anyone who is in recovery from ANY substance use disorder/addiction)
  • the General Public (anyone who is interested from Adams County).

The focus groups will be held at the Penn State Extension Ag Center, 670 Old Harrisburg Road (Suite 204), Gettysburg, PA 17325 at 6:00 p.m. on these dates:

  • Police/First Responders: Tues, November 12
  • Substance Use Disorder Recovery Community: Wed, November 13
  • General Public: Thurs, November 14

You will receive more detailed directions for parking and room number when you register.

You will receive a $25 gift card once you finish the focus group.

To register send an email to ges5098@psu.edu. Indicate which focus group you will attend (you are only be able to participate in one focus group).  Space is limited, so please reply soon!

We would also ask that you send this email on to your friends and family that live in your community who might also be interested in attending.
