The East Berlin Area Community Center today announced that, as part of its ongoing Reach 4 the Stars capital campaign, donations have been received that allow the center to pay off the mortgage on its 22-acre property, acquired in 2022 to house a new facility. The $35 million campaign is ongoing, but the mortgage payoff marks a milestone in the center’s efforts.
“This accomplishment represents a significant milestone, and the Board recognizes EBACC’s continued commitment and investment within the Township,” said the Hamilton Township Board of Supervisors. The Reach 4 the Stars capital campaign is a multi-year effort to build a new building and enhance the community center’s popular offerings.
“In 2022, EBACC was able to secure a loan through ACNB Bank for the purchase of the land that will be the home of their brand-new facility along Route 194. In less than four years, EBACC has worked hard to raise the funds to pay off that loan in full. We are proud of the efforts Robin, Pam and the entire EBACC team have put forth to help make their goals a reality and enhance the quality of life for the residents of East Berlin and the surrounding communities,” said ACNB Vice President Commercial Lender John D Husser.
“Ken Young’s dedication and volunteerism to EBACC were beyond measure,” said EBACC’s Reach 4 The Stars Capital Campaign Chair Robin Heyser. Young’s wife, Pat Young, recently donated to EBACC, helping pay off the mortgage on the new Community Center. “This is to honor Ken. Ken was invested in EBACC and I believe this is the right thing to do to ensure that EBACC continues for many years, just as he would have wished,” Pat Young said.
