Join the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society for the 50^th commemoration of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s birth.  At 11:15 am all are welcome to gather at the Eisenhower House President Eisenhower’s retirement office at Gettysburg College for a short program scholarship presentations and a wreath laying at the Eisenhower statue. Everyone is welcome at the commemoration free of charge.

Following the wreath laying join the Eisenhower Society for a buffet luncheon at the Historic Dobbin House 89 Steinwehr Avenue Gettysburg. The buffet menu includes Chicken Coq Au Vin Baked Ham with Pineapple Raisin Sauce and Penne Pasta and Tomato Sauce. Vegetables include Rice Pilaf Oven Roasted Potatoes Buttered Dilled Carrots and Green Beans Almondine. A 25-item salad bar fresh baked breads and desserts including Fudge Brownies Blueberry Trifle Gingerbread with Lemon Sauce and Colonial Pudding Cake will also be available.  

Our luncheon speaker this year is Dr. Michael Neiberg Professor of History and Chair of War Studies at the United States Army War College in Carlisle Pennsylvania. His published works specialize in the First and Second World Wars placing them in a global context. He is the author of Dance of the Furies: Europe and the Outbreak of World War I considered one of the five best books ever written on the war by The Wall Street Journal. Dr. Neiberg's talk is entitled “After the Beaches: Eisenhower and the Road to Paris.” He will cover the controversies most of them forgotten today over America's and specifically Eisenhower's role in the liberation of Paris.
