Embarking on a transcontinental journey of athletic and cultural exploration, the Gettysburg College men’s basketball team is set to embark on an unforgettable eight-day tour across the heart of Europe. From May 20-28, the Bullets will traverse the historic cities and picturesque landscapes of Belgium, France, and Germany, setting the stage for an unforgettable preseason adventure.
The itinerary is packed with sightseeing and excursions, featuring visits to iconic destinations such as Mechelen, Bruges, Brussels, and Antwerp in Belgium, followed by the enchanting streets of Paris, the bustling canals of Amsterdam, and the vibrant cityscape of Cologne, Germany. Central to the expedition are three matchups against renowned European clubs: BC Oostende, Antwerp Giants, and Leuven Bears.
However, the journey extends far beyond the hardwood. Immersed in the tapestry of European culture and history, the team will delve into educational and cultural experiences, enriching their global perspective. From guided tours of historic landmarks to culinary adventures sampling local cuisine, each day promises new discoveries and personal growth.
“I’m tremendously excited for our trip across Europe,” says head coach B.J. Dunne. “It will provide our team with invaluable experiences both on and off the court, immersing ourselves in other cultures while continuing to strengthen and showcase the brotherhood and resilient team culture that define our program, setting the stage for a successful season ahead.”
Fresh off a historic season where they claimed the Centennial Conference regular-season championship for the first time in program history and secured the third-highest number of wins ever, the Bullets are eager to kickstart the next chapter. This journey will not only prepare them for the challenges ahead but also create lasting memories that will endure long after the final buzzer sounds.
