Family Friday brings fall fun to Gettysburg Rec Park

Families are invited to celebrate the season with an evening of fall festivities during the upcoming Family Friday Farm & Fall Fun event, hosted by Collaborating for Youth, a program of the Center for Youth and Community Development. The event will take place on Friday, October 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Gettysburg Rec Park Fireman’s Pavilion.

The community gathering will feature the 5th Annual Pie Eating Contest as its centerpiece, along with a range of family-friendly activities designed to bring neighbors together. Highlights include a scarecrow-building contest, pumpkin painting, free food, and door prizes. The entire evening is alcohol-free, emphasizing a welcoming and safe atmosphere for participants of all ages.

Collaborating for Youth has been a cornerstone of community engagement in Adams County for two decades. Housed within the nonprofit Center for Youth and Community Development, the coalition brings together 25 partner organizations and an extensive network of volunteers. Their shared mission is to develop the positive potential of youth within safe and supportive families and communities, while reducing risks facing area youth and families.

Over the years, the coalition has expanded its programming to include prevention initiatives, youth development opportunities, and community-building events like Family Friday. By creating spaces where families can gather and connect, the organization works to strengthen community ties and provide positive experiences for young people.

Attendance at the event is free, though participants must be present to win prizes. For more information, community members can call 717-338-0300, email communityimpact@cfygettysburg.com, or visit www.cfygettysburg.com.
