Film crew related road closures will affect Baltimore Street beginning tomorrow

Gettysburg Borough has approved a special event permit for the upcoming film production Gettysburg, 1863, directed by Bo Brinkman, who also directed A Gettysburg Christmas. The permit mandates a temporary closure of Baltimore Street between Breckenridge and South streets from Thursday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. through Tuesday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m.

Drivers will need to use alternate routes via parallel streets such as High Street and Steinwehr Avenue. Pedestrian access may be altered or restricted near the set depending on production needs. Borough officials and film staff urge residents and visitors to allow extra travel time, especially during peak filming on October 11 and 12.

Brinkman, known locally for A Gettysburg Christmas, returns with a new historical drama set in Civil War–era Gettysburg. The story follows a fictional Gettysburg family whose lives are forever changed by the Civil War—the fight for freedom on the Underground Railroad, the battle that raged through their streets, and one Union soldier’s struggle to survive and find his way home.

Filming will take place in front of the historic Shriver House Museum, built in 1860. Tickets are available for those who wish to witness the filming up close. Prices are $70 for youth (K–12), $90 for Adams County Historical Society members, and $100 for general admission. The ticket includes a two-day pass (October 11–12) to spectator seating in front of the Shriver House Museum at 307 Baltimore Street, a commemorative lanyard, and a signed copy of “The Shrivers’ Story: Eyewitnesses to the Battle of Gettysburg.” Historian Tim Smith will provide live commentary during the filming.

All proceeds from ticket sales will support the Shriver House Museum, operated by Gettysburg History. Filming schedules are subject to change; in the event of cancellation, full refunds will be offered.
