By Irene Powell for the Adams County Heritage Festival
How many different languages are spoken in Adams County? Who knows? But, it is most likely more than you imagine.
At this year’s 31st Annual Heritage Festival, Sept. 18 we want to collect as many samples of different languages as possible.
Anyone who is fluent in a language other than English (and maybe you know 2 or 3 or more!) is invited to stop by the Passport Program Booth to translate and record a pre-written very short easy script.
What will you be saying? “It is a small world that we all share. We must respect each other and work for justice so we can all live in peace.”
If you can translate that into a language that you speak, we would like to record your language sample.
Eventually, these may be archived at the Adams County Historical Society.
Come see us Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area Recreation Park on Long Lane.
