Gettysburg Mayor Rita Frealing was among dozens of Pennsylvania mayors who gathered in Harrisburg this week for the 54th Annual Conference of the Pennsylvania State Mayors Association (PSMA). The event, held July 17–20 at the Central Hotel and Conference Center, focused on helping municipal leaders navigate policy changes at the federal level.
Frealing was also appointed to the PSMA’s influential Resolutions Committee, which helps shape the organization’s official policy positions on key state and national issues.

The annual conference, the only one in Pennsylvania dedicated solely to mayors, featured a slate of prominent speakers. Attendees heard from Augustine Faucher, Chief Economist for PNC Financial Services; State Representative Michael Schlossberg, who provided a legislative update; Kathy Wyrosdick, Executive Director of the Center for Local Government Services; and attorney Stephen L. Korbel, who offered a legal update.
Panel discussions addressed immigration and municipal resources. Participants in the immigration panel included Mike Vogel, President of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, and immigration attorney Wendy Castor Hess. The PSMA also invited representatives from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to join the discussion.
A second panel on municipal resources featured Rick Vilello, Deputy Secretary of Community Affairs and Development; Mayor Tom Riel of Bradford; and Mayor Kendy Alvarez of Lewisburg.
