As part of her duties to develop and extend relationships and connections from Gettysburg to other corners of the Commonwealth, Gettysburg Mayor Rita Frealing attended a reception for Black History Month at the Susquehanna River residence of Governor Josh Shapiro on Tuesday.
Frealing said the reception was attended by borough councilmembers, county commissioners, and dignitaries and officials, including Secretary of Education Khalid N. Mumin and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, the first Black Lieutenant Governor in Commonwealth history.

Frealing said she particularly enjoyed her conversation with Shapiro’s wife Lori Shapiro. “She’s a delight,” she said about the Bucks County native.
“You have to have relationships with people. I’m planning to go to Harrisburg every month. That’s called reaching out, shaking hands, and hopefully bringing needed financial support into Gettysburg,” said Frealing.
