The Lincoln Cemetery Project Association and the Gettysburg National Military Park (GNMP) united on Saturday to host two historical persons; Fredrick Douglass and Captain John Brown. The sold-out event, held at the GNMP Visitors Center as part of the 2025 Winter Lecture Series, was an unforgettable experience, bringing history to life through an engaging portrayal of the two characters.
The event featured outstanding portrayals by Nathan M. Richardson (Frederick Douglass) and Doug Dobbs (Captain John Brown), who masterfully recreated a historical conversation between these two influential figures.

“Frederick Douglass & John Brown: The Lion and the Leopard” captivated the audience, offering a powerful retelling of their partnership leading up to the Raid on Harper’s Ferry.
Following the discussion, guests engaged in a 20-minute Q&A session, further deepening their understanding of these historical figures and their impact.
For those who missed it, the program is available for viewing on the Gettysburg National Military Park and Visitors Center Facebook Page for a limited time. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience history come to life!
