Friday is National HIV Testing Day and Family First is offering free tests

On Friday, June 27, Family First Health will honor National HIV Testing Day by offering free, confidential, and rapid HIV testing from a mobile unit, 11am-3 pm at the Hope House, 150 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Our event will also provide educational resources and information about accessing our services, including but not limited to medical and dental care, behavioral health, and substance use.

First observed in 1995 and globally recognized annually on June 27, National HIV Testing Day encourages people to be tested, know their status, and be connected to care. According to the CDC, “an estimated 1.2 million people in the United States have HIV, including about 161,800 people who are unaware. Nearly 40% of new HIV infections are transmitted by people who don’t know they have the virus.” Getting tested is the only way to know. People living with HIV can control the virus, live long, healthy lives, and have effectively no risk of sexually transmitting HIV.

Family First Health is a nonprofit community health center that strives to meet the needs of the community by providing access to high-quality, comprehensive medical and dental care, integrated behavioral health and substance use services, podiatry, optometry, as well as a variety of community health programs.

Family First Health’s Caring Together program helps patients living with HIV easily access the services they need. Annually, the Caring Together program provides services to more than 650 patients.
