Friends of the Library Celebrate 2025

Friends of the Adams County Library (FOL) celebrated their yearly achievements at their breakfast and annual meeting today at the Harbaugh-Thomas Library in Biglerville. Linda Joswick, president of the Friends of Adams County Library, noted in her remarks that it has been a banner year for the Friends, with increased membership, new board members, and a summer book sale that broke both attendance and sales records.

Miranda Wisor, executive director of the Adams County Library System, also gave the Friends of the Library good news. The Adams County Library System achieved Gold Star status through the Pennsylvania Library Association’s PA Forward® Initiative’s Star Library Program. That achievement is based on the library’s efforts to raise the quality of life in its community, which the library system has done and continues to do through the information, technology, and literacy tools and programming it offers all Adams County residents.

The main event of the breakfast was the presentation of a check for $50,000 by Joswick to Wisor, representing the Friends’ fundraising efforts from the past year.

The audience also enjoyed an appearance by Thaddeus Stevens, now 233 years old. He gave the crowd an informative and lively account of his accomplishments, via the talent and knowledge of Ross Hetrick, president and founder of the Thaddeus Stevens Society.

Friends of the Library welcomes new members to share its mission. Check online, inquire at the library bookstore, or ask a desk librarian for more information.
