We celebrated our 12th year at our present location, 232 North Queen Street in Littlestown. This is a library that was built by the dedicated hard work and sacrifice of the members of the community. It is a place where we meet for both educational and social events. We are busy making plans for fundraising events to support our Library. Funds raised will be used for special children’s programs, discussion groups, guest speakers, presenters, reading research, and computer workstations, among many other things. The dedicated work of the “Friends” can literally make a lasting difference in the programming of the library.
I am excited to be able to tell you what we have been up to this year and what events are coming up. In Feb. our first fundraiser for 2023 was our soup sale, we made 384 quarts of our delicious, preordered Chicken Corn and Beef Veg. soup.
April 14th and 15th, we had our annual book sale. There were new books by authors you love and some of your old favorites. ALL AT BARGAIN PRICES. High-quality books, from literary fiction to political biographies, are marked at reduced rates. On Sat. we had Bag Day, if you buy 3 grocery bags full you got the 4th free. We also had Specialty books. The event was held at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1125 Frederick St., Littlestown, Pa.
On June 3rd we were at the Farmer’s Market at Rec Park, Gettysburg. Our Friends group was giving away Children’s books to the children there.
From May till Aug., we worked on our float for the Good Ole Days parade.
Aug. 19 at Good Ole Days, giving away Children’s books to the children who attended.
We had our Soup Sale on Oct. 20th. All soup is preordered. Soup could be ordered by calling 717-359-9550. We made our Chicken Corn and our Beef Veg soups.
At the Library, we also gave out bags of candy to the Trick or Treaters on Halloween evening. This is always fun to see the different costumes the children are dressed in.
In Feb. of “24” we will again be taking orders for our famous soup beginning Sat. the 10th. Soup pick-up will be Friday, Feb. 24th, at the Library from 6 pm till 7 pm. Call the Library to order. 717-359-0446
Our book Sale will be in April, so keep an eye out for our advertisement.
In June, at the Farmer’s Market to give out free books to the children. In May, we will be getting ready for the parade and Good Ole Days. There will be one more soup sale in Oct. and, of course, Halloween at the Library.
