Shopping in downtown Gettysburg has been fun for years.
Now, it can be fun and games.
Strategy-minded employees of Nerd Herd Gifts and Games created the Gettysburg Collect-A-Deck so shoppers can have fun while enjoying the downtown’s many offerings.
Anyone who wants to play should first start at Nerd Herd on York Street for their free carrying pouch, dice and game rules. There they can also get their first free card, featuring Nerd Herd.

The game can be played with up to four cards, but Wallace encourages shoppers to collect all nine. Other free cards are available at Artworks, Lark, A&A Village Treasurers, Fresh Boutique, Oh Man!, The Christmas House, Redbud House, and Gettysburg Polish Pottery.
“The idea was to get people to visit stores they maybe otherwise wouldn’t have,” Wallace said. “Hopefully they see something they like in the store and buy it but if they just come in for a card, that’s OK.”
All of the stores are located inside historic structures so the cards include the building’s story and information on the business. Wallace said the game also builds comradery among the shop owners.
“I am big into everyone coming together and making Gettysburg a great place for shopping,” Wallace said.
