GARA will host “World of Wonders” Acrobats

Greetings from the Rec Park!   I can’t believe how fast the summer is going. We are very appreciative of everyone who came out to the park for our July 4th Independence Day celebration. The weather could not have been better. Kudos to Six Whiskey Revival for playing an additional half hour and putting together a patriotic playlist during the fireworks show. Many thanks also to Destination Gettysburg for sponsoring the fireworks program enjoyed by all.

We have already started planning for the country’s 250 birthday. I’m in the process of contracting with a terrific band, we plan to invite more food and drink vendors to accommodate everyone and much more.

In the meantime, we have a couple more weeks of hosting the wonderful “Collaborating for Youth” summer camps. Additionally, there are youth football clinics on Saturday mornings and we just completed a soccer camp hosting the GYSC.

For one week only, starting July 17th, we will be hosting the “World of Wonders” acrobatic performers. They have several shows to accommodate everyone, and this should be quite an event. They have performed all over the country and evidently put on a great performance. Please stop by the Sterner building and say hello when visiting the park. Also, please be reminded that our assembly hall and pavillions are available to rent for very reasonable rates.

Finally, I would like to give a shout-out to the “Youth Advocate” program, providing some extra assistance to us in cleaning the park and decluttering some of our facilities. These three young people and their adult supervisor have been wonderful to work with, and on behalf of the GARA board and myself, we thank them for their hard work and services.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Just giving Gene (can’t think of his last name at the moment) a shout out because he works so hard for the rec park! We rarely see him with any help so we want him to know we truly appreciate his efforts to keep the park looking beautiful. We walk our dogs there during the week and we see him at the market on Saturdays. He’s always busy with something and he’s so kind & helpful. Thanks Gene!
