The Gettysburg Area School District (GASD) is inviting families and community members to its first Coffee & Conversations event on Thursday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Norris-Wachob Alumni House on the Gettysburg College campus.
The event, hosted by the district’s Family Navigators, offers residents a chance to enjoy free coffee while engaging in open discussion with School Police Officers about how they help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for students. The goal is to strengthen community connections and increase transparency around the district’s school safety programs.
Coffee & Conversations is planned to continue as a monthly series, each session focusing on a different topic related to student well-being and school safety.
The Family Navigators program—part of GASD’s Student Assistance Program—serves as a key link between families, schools, and community resources. Navigators help parents access mental health support, academic assistance, and social services to ensure that every student can thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Their work often includes connecting families with counseling, tutoring, and essential support services such as food and housing assistance.
