GCCA launches its 82nd season

Gettysburg Community Concert Association (GCCA) opens its 82nd concert season on September 30, 2025, with a performance by pianist Philip Thomson. Best known for his recordings of Liszt, Thomson has toured throughout Europe and the United States and has been broadcast on radio and TV. Thomson will also present a student outreach program at an area school.

On October 3, 2025, Trio Confero will perform. Confero is a Latin verb that means “to bring together, unite, and contribute.” This is precisely the mission of clarinetist Maksim Shtrykov, pianist Misuzu Tanaka, and cellist Julia Kang, who are prizewinners of many international competitions and graduates of the world’s most prestigious music academies.

The evening of April 7, 2026, GCCA will welcome Ivalas, which has been changing the face of classical music since its inception in 2017 with a mission to enrich the classical music world by spotlighting past and present composers that are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, along with standard repertory. Violinists Reuben Kebede and Tiani Butts, violist Marcus Stevenson, and cellist Pedro Sánchez trust in the power of music to create a positive change in our communities.

The final concert of GCCA’s 82nd season will feature the Neave Trio on May 12, 2026. The Neave derives its name from the Gaelic word “niamh” meaning “bright” and “radiant.” Violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov, and pianist Eri Nakamura live up to this description as a vibrant and highly talented ensemble with engaging, cutting-edge performances.

All GCCA concerts will be held at 7:30 pm at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. An annual membership subscription of $60 includes admission to the 4 concerts in Gettysburg as well as 11 more shows in Waynesboro (waynesboropaconcerts.com) and Hagerstown (hagerstowncommunityconcerts.org) through reciprocal concert association agreements. Music genres at partner concerts include classical, pop, rock, bluegrass, western, folk, and more. Admission is $20 at the door for individual GCCA concerts, but free for anyone under 19 (under 13 with an adult) and college students with an ID.

GCCA, a nonprofit formed in 1939 to cultivate an interest in music and dance, provides opportunities for its members to attend performances given by outstanding artists. A student outreach program was started in 2005. Funds are raised primarily through annual subscription memberships. The GCCA 2025–26 season is supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; the National Endowment for the Arts, a Federal agency; the Adams County Arts Council’s STAR Grant Program funded by the Adams County Commissioners and the Borough of Gettysburg; Enbridge Energy Corporation; the Adams Electric Cooperative, Inc.; the Rice Family Foundation; and Destination Gettysburg.
