GCT Hosts PA State Community Theatre Fest

The Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT) will again host the Pennsylvania Association of Community Theatre Fest on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:30 pm.

The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre will present their production of Limerance, and 39 Tigers Theatre from Altoona will present their production of Kaleidoscope. Both plays will be adjudicated by professional guest theatre adjudicators Paul Nelson, David Robson, and Joseph B. Musumeci.

This PA Community Theatre Adjudication Fest was open to any PA community theatre to enter and is the first step for PA in the National Fest Cycle of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT). The judges will select one theatre from PA to compete at the Regional level with Eastern States Theatre Association (ESTA) at ESTAfest in April along with theatres from Maryland, Delaware, D.C, New Jersey, and New York.

The set and props for each production entered in the fest must fit in a 10×10 storage space. After each has had one tech rehearsal on stage, the cast/crew will have 10 minutes to set everything up for the performance, 60 minutes or less to perform, and 10 minutes to strike everything back to the 10×10 space.

Adjudication is in front of a live audience immediately following each performance, and awards will be given at the end of the night. This fest is open to the public, and tickets are available online at www.pact.ludus.com/index.php or at the door. The theatre bar is open one hour before the show for concessions and alcoholic beverages.

“Gettysburg Community Theatre is honored to host theatre festivals such as this”, said Chad-Alan Carr, GCT Founding Executive/Artistic Director, “as we have done for PACT in 2015 and 2019, as well as helping with the National Fest for AACT in 2019. We love bringing people to Gettysburg to see all that there is to offer beyond the Battlefield in this charming town filled with unique small businesses and events.”

GCT Mission Statement: To inspire creativity and confidence, provide cultural enrichment, and instill a love of the theatre arts in people of ALL ages and abilities through quality education and performance.
