THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked eighth in the latest IWLCA national poll, outscored Washington (Md.) in three of the four quarters to key an 18-7 win and a return to the Centennial Conference Championship to defend their title.

THE LEADERS
• Julia Daly (McLean, Va./McLean) tallied four goals and dished two assists. She also caused one turnover.
• Katie Fullowan (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) also scored four goals, to go with two draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover.
• Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) had three helpers and one goal, as well as two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

FOR THE FOES
• Tobin Chambers led the Shorewomen with two goals, the only Washington player with a multi-goal game.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Washington and Gettysburg traded goals in the first four minutes of play, with Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) finding the net for the Bullets, and Mia Salvatierra connecting on a free position shot for the Shorewomen. A Julia Daly goal with 9:46 on the clock sparked a five-goal Bullets run that stretched until a Katie Fullowan goal capped it with only 13 seconds left in the first quarter. In the stretch, Daly scored twice, while Fullowan, Basso, and Emily Crane (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) each netted one, yielding a 6-1 Gettysburg lead after the first stanza.
• The Bullets carried the momentum into the second period, scoring five goals to the Shorewomen’s zero. Caroline Sullivan started things by intercepting a Washington pass and going straight to cage for a tally within the 30 seconds of play. Just three minutes later, Crane made a solo run to bury the ball and make it a seven-goal lead. After several shots by both teams, Daly connected with 8:36 left in the half for her fourth of the game. The final two goals of the period came as Daly dished to Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) and Fullowan converted a free position attempt to get to the ten-goal differential after two quarters of play, leading 11-1.
• Washington finally broke through their scoring drought as Ellie Morrall dished to Ashley Devlin in the first three minutes of the third quarter, scoring on a man-up opportunity. They made it two in a row two minutes later, when Anna Wilson scored off a Morgan Sutherland helper. The Bullets broke up the Washington momentum just 90 seconds later as Sullivan sent a pass to Dillon Troy (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) for the Bullets’ 12th of the game. The teams traded goals, with Fullowan scoring two and the Shorewomen tallying two, courtesy of Madison Maguire and Tobin Chambers to give Washington a single-digit deficit for the first time since the beginning of the quarter. With one second left in the third, Daly dished to Basso to bring the lead back out to 15-5 for the Bullets.
• Daly, Sophie Smith (Great Falls, Va./Langley), and Troy scored within the first 4:05 of the final quarter to give the Bullets a thirteen-goal lead. Washington would score the final two goals in the last eight minutes, but couldn’t make a comeback as the Bullets took the 18-7 win to advance to the Centennial Conference Championship game.

THE INSIDE STORY

• Dillon Troy and Emily Crane each scored two goals.
• Gillian Cortese (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) and Juliette deVarenne (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) split time in goal for Gettysburg. Cortese made seven saves, while deVarenne had two.
