The oath of office was administered to re-elected member Alan Moyer, and to new board members Michael Dickerson, AmyBeth Hodges, Timon Linn, and Tim Seigman.

Holdover members from 2019 are Kenneth Hassinger, Carrie Soliday, and Kathleen Adams Pratt.

Because Hodges was elected to both a two-year and a four-year term, a replacement candidate will be chosen to become the ninth member of the board.

The new board immediately set to work, nominating Carrie Soliday and Kenneth Hassinger for school board president.

Soliday said she had “28 years’ experience in education at all levels.”

“Each board member brings a different background, experiences, skillsets, and opinions that are all valued. These differences enhance our discussions and lead to better decision-making,” said Soliday.

Soliday said she was “committed to the vision of the GASD, staff, students, taxpayers, and community members at large.

“I bring diverse groups and skillsets together to accomplish a common goal,” said Soliday.

Hassinger said he would work for the “common good of the taxpayers, the students, and the district.”

Hassinger was elected by a vote of 5 to 3 with Soliday, Pratt, and Moyer voting for Soliday and the remainder voting for Hassinger.

Alan Moyer was unanimously selected as board vice president.

The board also unanimously voted the Gettysburg Times as the newspaper of record for the school district and AmyBeth Hodges as the Legislative Chairperson to the Pennsylvania School Board Association.
