Gettysburg Borough Offers Electronics Recycling For Residents on September 19

Waste Connections, Inc. and the Borough of Gettysburg will be offering an electronics recycling event on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Borough Public Works Building, 457 East Middle Street, Gettysburg.

All “covered devices,” as defined by Pennsylvania law, can be recycled.  Permitted items include TVs, CPUs, laptops, tablets, TV and computer screens, remotes, keyboards, mice, personal-sized hard drives, printers, scanners, routers, modems, servers, wires, cables, small circuit boards, CDs, disks, UPS, and joysticks.

Microwave ovens are also be accepted.

Check the borough’s website for a complete list of accepted items.

There is no charge for this service, but preregistration is required.  After you have registered you will receive a 15 minute window to bring in your items.

Register online or by calling 717.337.0724 weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

To register you will need your Waste Connections account number, which can be found on your quarterly bill.

Because this is a contracted event for Gettysburg Borough residents only, proof of residency may be required. It will be a drive-through event with runners available to remove devices from customers’ vehicles.

Participants are encouraged to complete registration as soon as possible, as there is a deadline after which a waiting list will be offered. Registration deadline is Thursday March 19, 2020.

This popular event is one of quarterly “covered device” drop-off opportunities as stipulated by the borough’s 2018 trash hauling contract with Waste Connections, Inc.  In 2019, 2.78 tons of electronic devices were collected for recycling locally.
