Gettysburg Borough will be coordinating with regional public safety agencies after several social posts referenced burning the American flag on the July 4th weekend. The event, said to be taking place at the Gettysburg National Cemetery. has attracted the attention of the criminal intelligence sections of the public safety agencies. Workers are evaluating the social media posts, and federal, state, and local agencies are also involved.
“We want to assure those we serve that we are taking all precautions at our disposal to maintain the safety of all residents and visitors to the area as well as the protection of property to include businesses, homes, monuments, churches and other historical treasures located in the greater Gettysburg area,” Chief Robert Glenny, Gettysburg Borough Police Chief, said.

Residents are asked to call their respective law enforcement agencies to report suspicious acts or things they feel may be out of place, according to the city of Gettysburg’s official website.
