Gettysburg Borough Snow Emergency Declared February 20, 2019

A Snow Emergency has been declared in Gettysburg Borough. Mayor Streeter offcially called the Snow Emergency at 9:55 AM on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The Snow Emergency will remain in effect until all Borough roads have been cleared of snow and ice.All vehicles must be removed from Snow Emergency Routes immediately. On-street parking along Snow Emergency routes is prohibited during a Snow Emergency. Racehorse Alley Garage and parking areas at the Rec Park are available until the Snow Emergency is lifted.

2. No vehicles may be parked on a snow emergency route at any time the snow emergency is in effect. Removal of any vehicle along a snow emergency route is required. The Borough reserves the right to tow vehicles along a snow emergency route at the owner’s expense. Violators may also be subject to a fine. This action is crucial in order to adequately clear snow from curb to curb.

3. ALL residents and businesses (property owners) along snow emergency routes are responsible for clearing their sidewalks within 12 hours of the end of precipitation. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a fine.Residents and property owners are required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of precipitation along roads not designated as snow emergency routes. 

4. Additionally, it is unlawful to place snow/ice in the street. Snow/ice must be cleared to a location other than a street. Gettysburg Police will be prepared to cite violators.
