Gettysburg Boys and Girls Track Teams Head For District Championships

The Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field teams qualified 14 individuals for the prestigious District 3 AAA championships this season, building upon two undefeated Colonial Division Championships.

For the boys’ team, district qualifiers include Kye’mere Robinson, who stormed into the postseason with a gold medal in the triple jump at the Mid Penn Championships, defending his title from last year. His PR leap was 45’11”.

Owen Clapsadle qualified for four separate events at districts, including the 800 meters, 1600 meters, and 4 x400 and 4 x800 relays. His medal performance in the 800 meters at the Mid Penn Championships of 1:57.71 qualified him for the fast heat of the 800 meters at Districts.

Teammates Luke Breighner, Luis Martinez, and Nico Oshunrinade will join Clapsadle in the 4 x800 relay, whose time of 8:10.65 at Mid Penns also earned them a medal there.

Oshunrinade will also compete in the open 3200 meters at Districts, following a strong showing at the Mid Penn Championships, where he took the bronze medal.

Mauricio Escobar-Rudy capped a strong sprint season for the Warriors by earning a district qualifying time in the 200 meters. Dylan Cunningham’s pr throw of 162’1″ also earned him a ticket to districts.

Rylan Harlow was one of only two freshmen to qualify for the 400 meters with his time of 51.63. He will also anchor the district qualifying 4 x 400 relay team that also includes teammates Adrian Smith, Luke Breighner, and Owen Clapsadle.
