Gettysburg Cancer Center Receives Six Art Pieces From Recent Auction

The Land Conservancy of Adams County is pleased to announce that six pieces of artwork from
its recent annual Art Auction have been generously donated to the Wellspan Cancer Center
through a special donation opportunity offered to auction winners.

The Art Auction, a signature fundraising event for the Land Conservancy, showcases the talent
and creativity of local and regional artists while supporting the organization’s mission to preserve
the rural lands, natural resources, and distinctive character of Adams County.

This year, winning bidders were given the option to donate their purchased artwork to the
Wellspan Cancer Center, helping bring beauty, inspiration, and comfort to patients, families, and
healthcare professionals. In a remarkable display of community generosity, a handful of auction
winners chose to donate six pieces of art, creating a lasting impact beyond the auction itself.
Cancer care is inherently stressful.  Visual art, especially nature based or soothing imagery,
lowers anxiety by shifting attention away from fear and uncertainties. Art plays a powerful
evidence based supported role in creating a healing and calm environment within a Cancer
Center. It goes beyond decoration, it becomes a part of the therapeutic environment that supports
patients, families and staff both emotionally and psychologically.

The donated artwork will be displayed throughout the cancer center, enhancing the healing
environment and providing patients and visitors with opportunities to experience the creativity
and beauty of local art.

The Land Conservancy’s annual Art Auction celebrates the connection between conservation and
the arts, highlighting artists whose work is inspired by the landscapes, history, and rural
character of Adams County. Proceeds from the auction directly support the Land Conservancy’s
efforts to protect farmland, forests, waterways, and open spaces throughout the county. Since its
inception in 1998, the Art Auction has raised nearly $500,000 to benefit the Land Conservancy.
The Land Conservancy of Adams County thanks all participating artists, sponsors, volunteers,
bidders, and donors whose support made this year’s auction a success.

The Land Conservancy of Adams County is a nonprofit, member-supported land trust accredited
by the national Land Trust Alliance’s Land Trust Accreditation Commission. The organization’s
mission is to preserve the rural lands and character of Adams County, Pennsylvania. For more
