Winter auditions are now open for both professional and volunteer singers for the Spring 2026 season with the Gettysburg Choral Society.
Auditions will be held by appointment on two dates: Monday, Jan. 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. Interested singers are encouraged to contact the organization to receive a pre-screening questionnaire and additional audition information.
The Gettysburg Choral Society is seeking singers who can read music, have prior choral experience, and demonstrate strong vocal accuracy, tone quality, blend and range. Good sight-reading skills are strongly preferred, and all auditioning singers must be at least 18 years old. Singers who cannot read music will not qualify.
Auditions are open for both volunteer and professional singers. Highly trained professional vocalists, preferably with formal degrees, are invited to audition for paid positions, with particular need for tenors and basses. Professional singers are expected to maintain excellent attendance, arrive fully prepared for rehearsals and performances, and submit a resume as part of the application process. A stipend will be paid upon successful completion of the semester.
Selected singers must be available for all required Spring 2026 dates. Rehearsals will begin March 2, with a mandatory Saturday rehearsal scheduled for April 18. Dress rehearsals will take place on May 12 and May 18, followed by spring concerts on May 23 and May 24.
The Gettysburg Choral Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization composed of auditioned singers who use their talents to pursue excellence in choral music performance.
To request an audition appointment, interested singers should contact the organization and include their voice part, choral background and a brief description of their vocal abilities. Auditions may be scheduled by contacting manager Julie Strickland at (717) 515-3176 by call or text, or by email at mayfairy25@gmail.com.
