The Gettysburg Choral Society, Inc. will present a Christmas concert entitled “Joy to the World!” in The Church of the Abiding Presence (Chapel) on the campus of the United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, on Friday, December 1st, at 7:00 P.M.
The forty-voice chorus, under the direction of John McKay, will celebrate the chapel’s captivating acoustics with a number of a cappella arrangements by the legendary Robert Shaw and Alice Parker. The sonic properties of these classic Christmas selections are sure to impress, as are the other seasonal favorites being presented by the chorus.
A Christmas-themed mini-organ recital, featuring organist Peggy Haas Howell, will be a highlight of this special event. Ms. Howell, having performed throughout Europe and the United States (including Gettysburg), promises to inspire with her artistic abilities on the seminary’s magnificent Andover pipe organ.
The concert will conclude with the audience joining the chorus and Ms. Howell in a sing-along, as the sounds of Christmas resound throughout the gratifying space.
As always, the concert is free and open to the public. Tax-deductible contributions will be received to help defray expenses.
