Gettysburg Christmas Festival arrives this weekend

Gettysburg is gearing up for its annual Christmas Festival, returning Dec. 5–7 with three full days of music, shopping, food, family activities and festive traditions stretching from Lincoln Square to Steinwehr Avenue. Always held the first weekend in December, the celebration brings small-town charm to the historic borough with dozens of themed events and holiday attractions. A map of this year’s festival is available on the event website to help visitors plan their routes.

The festival opens Friday at noon and runs until 10 p.m., with activities continuing Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Organized by Main Street Gettysburg, the community-wide event turns the walkable one-mile corridor between Lincoln Square and Steinwehr Avenue into a holiday promenade filled with lights, performances and seasonal displays.

Returning favorites highlight the weekend lineup. The annual tree lighting will draw crowds to Lincoln Square, while the popular Tuba Carol Fest brings musicians together for a unique holiday sing-along. A Victorian Christmas on Steinwehr Avenue offers old-fashioned decorations and themed activities, and the Gingerbread Celebration at the Adams County Arts Council showcases creative cookie-based artistry.

Baltimore Street will transform into Ice Avenue, featuring sculptures and demonstrations, and Rec Park will host a Holiday Popup Market with local artisans and vendors. Other festival stops include Breakfast with Santa at Seminary Ridge, the Historic House Tour at the Daniel Lady Farm, the Festival Tavern on Lincoln Square, and the Homespun Christmas Market at G.A.R. Hall.

Throughout the weekend, families can enjoy games, entertainment, photos, prize drawings, and meet-and-greets with Santa. Shops and restaurants across downtown will offer seasonal specials, extending the celebration into the evening as streets and storefronts glow with holiday décor.

Main Street Gettysburg, the festival’s presenter, says only a few vendor and activity slots remain as final preparations are underway. For more information, festival details, or to view the event map, residents can visit the official Gettysburg Christmas Festival website or call 717-337-3491.
