Gettysburg College will welcome alumni and their families back to campus for Homecoming and BOLD Weekend on Oct. 16-18. The weekend’s festivities include the College’s public launch of its comprehensive campaign to support and enhance educational opportunities across all areas of campus.
Approximately 1,000 alumni and their families will return to campus and the local community to revisit their favorite people and places. The College’s Homecoming features the first return for many younger alumni, also known as Burgians of the Last Decade (BOLD), and includes reunions for the Class of 2016 and Class of 2021.
Over the course of the weekend, alumni will embark on visits to nearby amenities, including Gettysburg Railway and the Beyond the Battlefield Museum, as well as engaging in a host of opportunities across their alma mater.
While the majority of activities are limited to the campus community, there are opportunities for the public to join our alumni. Schmucker Art Gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Oct. 16 and Oct. 17 and features two student-curated exhibits depicting Abraham Lincoln and photography from the Battle of Gettysburg.
Fans are welcome to enjoy the sights and sounds from an exciting day of athletics on Oct. 17. The action starts early at 10 a.m. with the annual Aubrey Shenk Cross Country Invitational spanning the north fields near Mummasburg Road.
In the afternoon, the Bullets football team battles Carnegie Mellon University at 1 p.m. at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. Following the football game, the College’s field hockey team will host Muhlenberg College at 6 p.m. All sporting events at Gettysburg College are free and open to the public.
A celebratory weekend on campus will conclude with a drone show over the north end of campus near West Lincoln Avenue Saturday night beginning at 8:45 p.m.
