Gettysburg College will host a first- and second-round pod of the 2024 NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse tournament, beginning on Saturday.
The Bullets (16-3) earned one of 14 at-large bids into the field of 46 based on its body of work throughout the season. Gettysburg fell to Franklin & Marshall 16-15 in the championship game of the Centennial Conference (CC) tournament on Sunday.
Gettysburg is making its 22nd NCAA tournament appearance. The Bullets earn a first-round bye and will await the winner of Saturday’s first-round game between Trinity (Conn.) and Farmingdale State, which will begin at 1 p.m. on Clark Field. The winner of that game will play the host Bullets in Sunday’s second round at 1 p.m. on Clark Field.
It would be the first-ever meeting between Gettysburg and Farmingdale State. The Bullets are 4-1 all-time against Trinity but have not played since the 2017 national semifinals, which Gettysburg won, 8-4.
Senior Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) leads the attack with 100 points and 65 goals. Her 35 assists are second on the team while she has also added 32 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. Sophomore Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) is second on the team with 61 goals and third on the squad with 77 points. She also has a team-high 25 caused turnovers. Senior Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) paces Gettysburg with 44 assists and is second with 79 points, adding 35 goals, 39 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
Junior Emily Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) leads the way with 109 draw controls while also adding 34 goals and 14 assists for 48 points. Junior Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) has 88 draw controls to go with 37 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. Sophomore Julie Breedveld (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) has added 21 caused turnovers while contributing 33 goals and 15 assists for 48 points.
Gillian Cortese (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) has backstopped the defense with a 7.85 goals-against average and .483 save percentage.
