2023 giving spree gettysburg connection community outreach

Community Outreach is a charitable 501c(3) program administered in collaboration with the Local Media Association’s 2023 Local News Fund.

GCCOF

Community Outreach shares vital information about health, education, transportation, housing, employment, financial security, and other essential topics with underserved Adams County residents.

Our outreach is directed in particularly to:

The over 7,000 Latino residents of the county who are often hindered in their ability to access information by language issues and lack of available computers and broadband. We reach out to these populations, in collaboration with local non-profits including Healthy Adams County, Casa de Cultura, and SCCAP through our Pasa La Voz text messaging service.

Younger readers, including those in their teens and 20s, who want and deserve access to trustworthy local news but who usually get their access through social media platforms. We create videos, stories, and other informative local media directed at this population. We are working with interns from Gettysburg High School to help engage them in local journalism.

Older readers. The median age in Adams County is over 44 years and many of our elderly residents live under the federal poverty level. Many of these residents do not have adequate internet service to receive news via websites. We collaborate with local non-profits to reach this population through social media and the US Postal service.

If you believe that Gettysburg Connection should try to connect all members of our community, please help us with a tax-deductible donation at this year’s Giving Spree.
