Due to dry conditions, Gettysburg Borough has issued a burn ban, effective immediately. The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.
As noted by the National Weather Service in State College, Pennsylvania on November 4th, 2024:
“Low relative humidity values resulting from exceptionally dry weather will impose an increased risk for fire spread. Relative humidity values are expected to drop into the upper 30 to low 40 percent range during peak heating hours across the region. Exercise enhanced caution with activities that involve open flames or sparks as fires can easily spread in these weather conditions.”

What’s Prohibited:
- All open burning
- Burn Barrels
Exceptions:
- Small decorative fires (such as chimineas)
- Cooking fires are allowed with caution
