The Gettysburg Fire Department will hold an open house this Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 35 North Stratton Street, Gettysburg, PA. The event, titled “Fire Prevention Passport to Safety,” aims to engage the community, particularly children, in fire safety education.
Attendees can participate in various interactive stations to learn essential safety skills. Each participant will receive a “Passport” that can be stamped at different stations. Once nine stamps are collected, participants will be entered into a drawing for prizes of **$50, $30, and $20**. Age groups for the drawing are divided into two categories: **Children through 3rd grade** and **4th to 12th grade**.

– Stop, Drop, and Roll
– Kids Obstacle Course
– Fire Hose Fun
– Kitchen Safety
– Smoke Alarms and Home Fire Drill
– Fire Extinguisher Demonstration by Gettysburg College
Additionally, local agencies and organizations such as the Red Cross, Gettysburg Police, Columbia Gas, and PennDOT’s “Move Over” will be present, along with many more. The event will feature a Vehicle Extrication Demonstration at 2 p.m. led by fire department professionals.
