The Gettysburg Foundation is proud to present a special after-hours programming event that is free and open to the public. The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2024, from 6:30 until 8 p.m. in the historic Rupp House – the childhood home of Children of Gettysburg 1863. The event will feature historian and author Stephen Evangelista and Licensed Town Guide Ted Hirt.
A fascinating story will be told about the Gettysburg Gun – the only known cannon that served in the Battle of Gettysburg, still in its original condition. Copies of the new book by Stephen Evangelista, Forever Silenced: The Story of the Gettysburg Gun, will also be available for purchase during a book signing session at the close of the event.

Guests can also experience Thundering Artillery – The Gettysburg Civilian Experience. This presentation by Ted Hirt shows how the battle changed the lives of Gettysburg citizens as the artillery rolled through the streets and thundered over the town during the historic event.
Children of Gettysburg 1863 is a fascinating museum that features interactive exhibits that tell the engaging stories of children, teens, and young adults living in and around Gettysburg during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. It includes firsthand accounts from young residents from 1863, including William Bayly, Albertus McCreary, Sadie Bushman, and Tillie Pierce.
This is an exciting event that is open to the public and definitely worth a visit. The museum adventure tickets are available online, by phone or on-site. Visitors can also explore the museum before the after-hours programming.
