Host team Gettysburg High School landed in fourth place in the season’s inaugural Mid-Penn Conference golf match with a team score of 361.
Low scorers from Gettysburg were Zachary Slaybaugh (84), Austin Keller(86) and Zachary Sentz (87).
Northern High grabbed first place with a team score of 327. Second went to Waynesboro at 334. Shippensburg took third with 335. Rounding out the field were Greencastle with 367, Big Spring with 389, and James Buchanan with 391.
The tournament was played from the 6,056-yard blue tees (par 71), at Fairfield’s Gettysburg National Golf Club under a scorching sun and a 90-degree day.
Waynesboro’s Tyler Fortney was the day’s top finisher, shooting a blistering 72. Northern’s Garrett White and Logan White were tied in second with scores of 78 each. Shippensburg’s Mason Fogelsonger and Waynesboro’s Andrew Soffe came in joint fourth at 79.
The lone female player, Ava Frontino from Shippensburg, recorded a 103.
The Warrior’s next match will be Thursday at Greencastle-Antrim.
